V-MODA's "Sculpted Sound Curve"
Designed to mimic the warm, sweet sound of hi-fi stereo speakers, the Vibe
Duo Nero's sound curve remains amazingly straight with no bass roll-off
which delivers a smooth and detailed bass response. A sensitivity dip in the
500hz to 2kHz range accentuates the bass slightly and reproduces a warm
soundstage. The gentle dropoff in the high ranges was carefully designed to
avoid harsh or "clinical"-sounding highs, making the Vibes suitable as
in-ear monitors.
Precision engineering allows your portable audio player
or cell phone
to deliver surprisingly stunning sound

The Power of V-MASQUE and BLISS Technologies
V-MASQUE is the speaker technology designed to reproduce V-MODA's sculpted
sound curve. It involves using micro-sized metal alloy housings with dynamic
neodymium speaker drivers to produce intense clarity and a warm, rich sound.
Many other high-end headphones use balanced armature drivers, which can
produce clarity well when inserted deeply--and for many people,
uncomfortably--into the ear. Yet even in the best-case scenarios headphones
using balanced-armature drivers can often lack warmth, producing a
"mechanical"-sounding midrange and highs that feel flat and cold. The sound
signature of the Vibe series is specifically designed for juicy lows and a
sweet midrange yet maintains very precise highs.
Vibe's amazing hi-definition sound makes every element of your music crystal
clear and present on a 3-D soundstage. The unique V-MASQUE dynamic driver
and "beat port" airflow system recreates the sensation of a LIVE music
experience. The "beat port" airflow system works by allowing the airflow to
move throughout the housing naturally thanks to precision-cut holes in the
driver and the housing. This airflow creates an organic output that is far
different than other high-end in-ear monitors that can sound distant and
mechanical. The Vibe simulates an experience of listening to live music
thanks to the circulation that takes place inside the headphone.
Your Duo Nero comes with a black leather carrying case,
cable manager,
and three sizes of silicone fittings in two colors
for the perfect fit and style

BLISS is the acronym for "Bass-Level-Isolating Soft Silicon". Passive noise
isolation by itself is not unordinary for in-ear headphones, yet extreme
attention to detail is critical because of the fitting's effect in both
comfort and sound. The exact thickness of the silicon can make all the
difference in the world. Many of the "softest" silicon fittings on some
brands proved to be too thick in V-MODA's user test panel. BLISS is made to
not only be extremely comfortable in the ear canal, but also to be the
easiest earphone to put in and take out quickly. This way one can rock
quickly in a matter of seconds, then take an intermission before another
encore.
The shape of the fitting is also extremely crucial to prevent them from
popping out too easily by providing a proper seal. One of the interesting
things V-MODA discovered is that the smaller the fitting, the better the fit
for some users since the smaller fitting fits slightly deeper to prevent
fall-out. However, many people commonly try only "larger" fittings thinking
they may be tighter when the opposite is true. This is why V-MODA puts the
small fittings on by default in the packaging, but users should try a few
different sizes to decide for themselves optimal sound and comfort.
The design behind BLISS is also an ideology of how far deep the fittings
should lie in the ear and the level of noise isolation. In V-MODA's user
test groups, many users found that other high-end headphones required a fit
too deep and too intrusive to get the best sound and comfort. BLISS fittings
are "just right" for everyday use and the amount of noise isolation they
provide.

IGN Review - Gerry Block::: (full
review)
The Vibes seem to have captured the balance of the M-Class and the solid bass of
the Bass-freqs. The combination of these characteristics is a very warm, well
balanced earphone that can handle just about any genre of music you care to
throw at it. The Vibes are bass-y, but not excessively so. We listened to a lot
of Tool's AEnima to get a feel for the Vibes, and the album did a good
job highlighting their characteristics. Lower-frequencies, like the
beating-heart underlying base guitar that runs through much of the album's title
track, are more apparent than with other earphones in this range that we've
tested. Happily, the Vibes were able to keep up with the highs and lows of
Maynard's LA-hating anthem and we never got the sense that we were losing too
much off the high end of his voice, or that the bass was obscuring other parts
of the music. We also tried some comparison testing based upon Iron Maiden's
"Rime of the Ancient Mariner" from Powerslave and were again pleased with
the fact that the Vibes gave the galloping chords a lot of weight, yet didn't
detract from Bruce Dickenson's range or obscure the lyrics.
In order to explore some other genres we gave a listen to Tuxedomoon's Cabin In
The Sky album. Their music is complex, layering a deep singing voice upon deeper
string-bass chords, high trumpets, snare drums, and all kinds of environmental
chimes, clicks, scratches, and murmurs. The Vibes transmitted each crisply, and
even when many effects were going on at once, the clarity of the highs added
enough resolution to the sonic pallet that none of the effects sounded muddled
or overshadowed.
The Vibes competes with a variety of earphones from Shure and Etymotics, among
others. In both looks and performance, the Vibes hold their own against every
competitor we've tested.

I know what you are thinking - OK, so they are very cool to look at and hold -
but how do they sound? Well, if you remember my review of the V-MODA Bass Freq
Earphones and how impressed I was with them - these blow pretty much every
sub-$150.00 Earphone I have tested right out of the water. They sound amazing.
That being said, these might not be for the "audio purists" of the group. There
is a definite "sound" that V-MODA is going for here - one that is very full at
the low end, clear at the high end and sort of like a dance club in your head.
This is not a "Flat" sound - far from it. That being said, I really love the
sound. It was so full at the lower frequencies that I could turn off the EQ on
the iPod and get more bass than almost any headphone out there - save the
Super.fi. EB - which costs two and a half times as much! With no EQ, the sound
quality of the iPod is also much improved.
I tried all sorts of music and found the Vibe to reproduce vocals beautifully,
instruments were clear and crisp and the Bass was amazing. It is hard to believe
that these things only sell for $101.00.”
Overall Conclusions:
This is an amazing set of Earphones. It is a work of art in design and a work of
genius in sound engineering. For $101.00 you simply cannot go wrong picking up a
pair.

Good news, as the V-Moda Vibe performs as well as $100 earbuds should.
V-MODA touts "vibrant bass, vivid mid-range, and vivacious highs" on the Vibes.
My experience? That's actually fairly accurate. The bass wasn't overloaded like
in most cheapo earbuds you find for under $50. The mids and highs were also
clear; much clearer than the default iPod or Zune earbuds.
But of course how they sound is less important if you can't stand wearing these
earbuds for a long period of time. Not a problem here. The "ultra-soft silicon"
fittings feel fine in my ears, sliding easily into the ear canal. Essentially
the Baby Bear of earbuds—not too deep and not too shallow—just right.
And finally, the looks. To me they genuinely look better than most other earbuds.

The Vibe series provide a precise balance of rich bass, warm mids and
unprecedented clarity. It's the next thing to being there. You can hear when the
singer takes a breath, the squeak of a guitar string, the pressure of the drums.
BLISS (Bass Level Isolating Soft Silicon) technology further reduces outside
noise for a precise and rich bass response (frequency 12Hz to 22Hz)... the
modaphones fit securely and comfortably.
At a suggested retail price of $101, you'd think they would be one of the higher
priced earphones on the market, but not when you compare them to the E Shure
series which tops out with the E5c at $549.00 MSRP. These are a steal,
comparatively.
Uncrate::: (view)
Whether you use them with your iPod or Zune, the V-Moda Vibe Earphones ($101)
will grab all of the attention. The noise-isolating earphones feature an
elegant, lightweight design sculpted from alloy metal. In our sound tests, we
were surprised to find that the Vibes rank right up there with Etymotic and
Shure earphones we've used. Great bass, mid-range and highs. The earphones come
in a leather pouch with three sizes of ultra-soft silicon fittings to fit any
ear.
